Paradise Lost 2: Revelations (2000)
In the years since the convictions and the release of Paradise Lost, a support group has sprung up on the internet, attempting to raise awareness about the plight of the "West Memphis Three" (Echols, Baldwin and Misskelley). Revelations: Paradise Lost 2 follows a number of these supporters as they attend a series of hearings for Echols, who is appealing for a new trial in an effort to avoid his death sentence. As the appeal hearings unfold over the course of 18 months, Revelations follows the ongoing reinvestigations of the case, and revisits the main subjects of the first film. In addition to filming the convicted young men and their families, Berlinger and Sinofsky also spent a great deal of time filming John Mark Byers, the stepfather of one of the murder victims (and the man who many believe may be the actual killer).
Almost three years in the making, Revelations: Paradise Lost 2 reveals startling new evidence and explores the ironies and ambiguities of a murder case that continues to leave many questions unanswered.
